William W. Riley, 82, a resident of Chelmsford since 1966, passed away on November 13, 2011 at the Palm Manor Nursing Home in Chelmsford. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy A. (Macaione) Riley who died in 2008. He was born in Lowell on October 5, 1929, and was the son of the late William A. and Alice A. (Garside) Riley. Early in his career Mr. Riley worked in his family business, Lowell Plumbing Supply. He later became a union plumber and started his own company, William Riley Plumbing & Heating. He served Chelmsford and the surrounding communities for over 30 years. He was a proud lifelong member and supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading and bird watching. Mr. Riley was a faithful communicant of St. Irene Parish in Carlisle where he served in many capacities including as a lector and usher. He is survived by his four children; Brenda J. Riley of ID, William W. Riley, Jr. of China, Stephen M. Riley and his wife Edith of Haverhill, and Michael J. Riley and his wife Robin of Chelmsford, his grandchildren; Joseph, Andrew, and Jeffrey Riley of Haverhill, and Elizabeth, Brian, Matthew, and Katherine Riley of Canada, 2 great grandchildren, and his daughter in-law; Corrinne Riley of Canada. Private services will be held at the request of the family.
