Geraldine W. (Wands) Franklin, 85, a longtime resident of Concord, MA, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2014 at Palm Center in Chelmsford. She was the beloved wife for 45 years of Allen R. Franklin who died August 31, 1995. She was born in Rutland, VT on January 17, 1929 and was a daughter of the late Willard C. and Mildred (Myers) Wand. She earned a Bachelor Degree in Library Science in 1950 from State University New York, Albany. During her career, she was employed by Union College, the University of Iowa, MIT, and was a librarian in the Concord School System from 1971 through 1987. Geraldine was a founding member of the Lutheran Church of the Savior in Bedford, MA. She enjoyed knitting and traveling and was an avid reader. Geraldine is survived by her three children; twin sons Joel Franklin and his wife Marlene of Bolton, and Jon Franklin and his companion Deb Byron of Chelmsford, and daughter Jill Fratkin and her husband Bill of Leominster, five grandchildren; Christopher Fratkin, Jennifer Fratkin, Laura Fratkin, Jake Franklin and Ryan Franklin, and one great-grandson Lucas Fratkin-Barros. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. Interment will be on Thursday at 12 oclock at Riverside Cemetery, Coxsackie, NY.
