Kathleen Vecchio

Kathleen A. (Sheehan) Vecchio, 63, of Concord died Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Emerson Hospital in Concord. She was the beloved wife for 38 years of James J. Vecchio. Born in Marlborough, Mass. on August 13, 1949 she was the daughter of the late John E. and Laura (Valmus) Sheehan. She attended Rose Hawthorne Elementary School in Concord, graduated in 1967 from Rose Hawthorne High School and in 1971 graduated from Regis College in Weston. For many years, Mrs. Vecchio taught 3rd grade in the Acton Public Schools and later taught 2nd grade at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted School in Waltham. Mrs. Vecchio was a reporter for the Concord Journal and the Littleton Independent and authored numerous feature stories. She also was the author of several plays for children, and under the pen name of Catherine Key, wrote a novel for pre-teens entitled What Michael Saw. A devout Christian, she has been active in interdenominational healing and deliverance ministries for over twenty years. A longtime Communicant of Holy Family Parish in Concord she recently became involved with the Congregation Beth Yeshua in Newton. Her prayer and healing ministries also extended to helping the homeless in Boston. As a leader of the Fishnet Ministry, she held monthly meetings at her home in Concord. A longtime Concord resident she was an avid reader and an active member of the Charismatic Christian Movement. She was dedicated to her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her two granddaughters. In addition to her husband, James, she is survived by her daughter, Veronica L. Noecker and her husband Christopher of Denver, Colorado, her son, Daniel J. Vecchio and his wife Gabriela of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, two granddaughters, Abigail C. Noecker and Katherine R. Noecker, her sister, Laura M. Moreau of Waltham and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 12th beginning at the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center at 9 AM followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center at 10 AM. Celebrant of the Mass will be the Rev. Austin H. Fleming. Burial will be in St. Bernards Cemetery, Concord where Fr. Fleming will recite the committal prayers. Visiting hours at the Dee Funeral Home will be held on Thursday, April 11th from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 PM.
