Ann (Bernier) Dowen of Hudson, formerly of Acton and Concord, died May 17, 2013 at the Emerson Hospital in Concord. She was 69 years old. She was the wife of Lloyd Everett Dowen of Hudson. She was predeceased by her husband John J. Downey who passed away in 1996. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Marie (Doucette) Bernier. One of five children, she was raised in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School. Mrs. Dowen was most recently employed at Nashoba High School as a cook. She greatly enjoyed the time spent with her family, and was especially proud of her 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Dowen is survived by her husband Lloyd Dowen of Hudson and her three children, Brian J. Downey of Lunenburg, Donna A. Oldenquist of Fitchburg, and Mark E. Downey of Bolton. She is also survived by her step children: Richard, Sandra, Glenda, Douglas, and Sheila. She was a loving grandmother to 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Dowen is also survived by her two brothers, Roger Bernier of New York, and Richard Bernier of California, and one sister, Jean Fanelli of Waltham. She was predeceased by her husband John J. Downey and her brother Ronald Bernier. Relatives and friends are invited to the memorial service on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 3:00pm at the Union Church of Stow, 317 Great Road (Rte 117 next door to the Stow Police Dept.), Stow, with Rev. Susan Scott officiating. A a reception will follow in the church hall.
