Eileen M. Carr Obituary
Eileen M. (Fraizer) Carr, 93, of Concord, died peacefully on April 6, 2018 at Rivercrest Wellness & Rehabilitation Center in Concord, with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late James Gordon Carr who died in 2001. Eileen was born in Providence, RI on March 28, 1925. She was a Navy WAVE during World War II, where she met her husband. Together, they shared 56 years of joy and marriage, and raised five children. An avid and adventurous traveler, Eileens journeys took her to all parts of the world, including her most memorable trip to the former Soviet Union in 1973, where she bartered and traded Levi jeans with the locals in exchange for Russian souvenirs! Eileen was a very active resident of the Concord senior community and participated in as many events as possible. She volunteered her time to the Bedford VA, Meals on Wheels, Emerson Hospital, and numerous charitable organizations that needed help. She was a member of the Bradenton, FL Silver Hair Legislators, Middlesex County Red Hats, Concord Music Makers, and was a constant fixture at the Concord Council on Aging events. A favorite memory of Eileens was being a member of The Shakers, a Concord tambourine band that performed at many local events and was highlighted by their appearance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, a few years back. She was the mother of James A. Carr and his wife Linda of Lolita, CA, Deborah J. Towns of Eureka, CA, Teri Finigan and her husband Jack of Concord, MA, Sue Carr of Malden, MA, and the late John D. Carr and his former wife Diane. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three siblings, John Fraizer of Danvers, MA, Eleanor Flaherty of Pawtucket, RI, and George Fraizer of Clearwater, FL, as well as several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather for her memorial service in the Duvall Chapel at Newbury Court, 80 Deaconess Road, Concord on Sunday, April 29th at 2 pm with a reception immediately following. Private burial with military honors will be held at a later date at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, RI. Concords Town Flag will fly at half-staff on Sunday, April 29th in recognition of Eileens honorable service in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Concord Council on Aging, 1276 Main Street, Concord, MA 01742. Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord. To share a remembrance or to send a condolence in her online guestbook, please visit www. DeeFuneralHome.com.
