Richard L. Wiggin II Obituary
Richard L. Wiggin II, 79, of Concord, died Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Rivercrest Longterm Care Facility in Concord. He was the husband for 55 years of Alice (Bemis) Wiggin. Born in Salem on March 18, 1933 he was the son of the late Richard L. and Cynthia B. (Sherman) Wiggin. He attended Hamilton public schools and graduated from Lenox School in Lenox, Massachusetts. In 1958, he graduated from Boston University School of Public Relations and Communications where he earned a B.S. He enlisted in the Massachusetts Air National Guard and served on active duty with the U. S. Air Force in the Philippines and Korea as an Airman First Class during the Korean Conflict. From 1960 to 1973, Mr. Wiggin was employed by Middlesex Institution for Savings in Concord as Assistant Treasurer of the Life Insurance Department. From 1974 until 1984, he worked at Somerville Savings Bank in Somerville. Most recently, until his retirement in 1996, he worked as a school bus driver for the Town of Acton. A resident of Concord since 1959, he was a past member of the Concord Lions Club, Concord Rod and Gun Club, Harvard Sportsman Club, Republic Committee of Concord and was a supporter of many fundamental, conservative Christian religious and political organizations. He was a volunteer for the Concord Auxiliary Police and past commander and color guard of the James J. Mansfield American Legion Post # 158 in Concord. He attended the Carlisle Congregational Church and recently joined the Faith Evangelical Free Church in Acton. In addition to his wife, Alice, he is survived by 1 daughter, Joanne W. Allard of Tucson, Arizona and 1 son, Andrew Gregg Wiggin of Chesapeake, Virginia, six grandchildren, Russell T. Walker, Alanna M. Walker, Beryl M. Walker, Stuart Walker, Daniel Gregg Wiggin and Victoria Elizabeth Wiggin. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 2nd at 11 am in the Faith Evangelical Free Church, 54 Hosmer Street, Acton. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Faith Church, Building Fund, 54 Hosmer Street, Acton, MA 01720. Concords town flag will fly at half-staff on Saturday, June 2nd in recognition of Mr. Wiggins service to his country in the U. S. Air Force. Arrangements are under the care of Susan M.
