William M. Hopkins Obituary
William M. Hopkins, 68, a proud Army Veteran and longtime Concord resident, died suddenly at his home on Monday, August 27, 2018. Born in Concord on March 26, 1950, he was the son of the late Thomas and Regina (Grant) Hopkins. After graduating from Concord-Carlisle High School in 1969, Bill served during the Vietnam War. He was discharged with the rank of Specialist in 1973, and also earned the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. Bill held several jobs in the Concord area, and for several years, was employed by Beacon Publishing. Since 2015, he was a resident of Peter Bulkeley Terrace. He enjoyed membership with the Chelmsford and Concord Elks, was a former member of the Musketaquid Sportsmans Club of Concord, and often visited the Concord Council on Aging to play his favorite game of Cribbage. Bill will be remembered as a fixture and familiar face in town. He faithfully participated as a Veteran during the annual Flag Retirement ceremony and Memorial Day observations. He is survived by three siblings, Kathleen H. Mudgett of West Springfield, John T. Hopkins and his wife Catherine C. of Alexandria, VA, and Regina H. Buckley and her hus- band Daniel J. of Acton, his aunt, Brenda Pulis of Concord, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Family and friends will gather for visiting hours on Thursday, August 30th from 4 to 8 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. His funeral service will be held on Friday, August 31st at 10 am in the Farrar Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord, where Officers of the United States Army will recognize his honorable service by presenting military honors. Concords Town Flag will fly at half-staff on Friday, August 31st in recognition of Bills service to his country. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to E.N.
