Chieko Slack, 64, of Orleans, Cape Cod, passed away on the morning on August 19th, 2013, at home after a year-long struggle with cancer. Born September 10th, 1948 in Yokosuka, Japan, Chieko was adopted by Pearl Walsh in 1958 and grew up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. She moved to Cape Cod in the seventies and married David Slack in 1991. They lived together in Orleans, Massachusetts. Chieko opened her business, a sewing and alterations shop, in the mid seventies in Orleans and served the community for over four decades, not only as a seamstress, but as a friend, mentor, and counselor. Cherished by her family, she was a deeply devoted mother to her children, Corinna, Santee, Julie and Steven; and adored her 12 grandchildren: Charlotte, Miles, Austin, Anthony, Dylan, Tyler, Mason, Miranda, Clara, Sage, Marty and, her namesake, Chieko (Coco). In addition to David, her husband of 22 years, her children and their families, Chieko is survived by her siblings: Janice, Richard, Jean, Edgar, Henriette, Yoko, Johanna, and their families. We mourn the loss of a dearly loved, generous and courageous spirit.
