He remained an active alumnus through his generosity to the UConn Fund. A true conversationalist, he had a long and successful career in sales, notably with Steelcase, Inc., including several years as Director of International Sales. He is also survived by his son Edwin; daughter and son-in-law Julianna and Michael Eckmann; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Barber and Jonathan McMenamin-Balano; and three grandchildren Jamie Barber, Meghan Eckmann and Ryan Barber. Clifford enjoyed woodworking and was often found tinkering in his workshop, having crafted and built his own 16 ft wooden skiff. He especially enjoyed the Cape Cod National Seashore and boating on Cape Cod Bay. Duck hunting, fishing and nautical histories were also among his favorite pastimes. Psalm 90:10 says that the days of our years are 70 years, And if because of special mightiness they are 80 years.

Dear Judy,
I visited the Greenwich Time website for the first time to look for my Aunt's obituary. What a shock to see Cliff's name. It hit me like a punch in the stomach. Cliff had a great influence on me and I always hoped to see you two on the Cape one day soon.
My deepest condolences to you and the family. You had a wonderful man in your life.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends during this difficult time. There are no words that can describe the pain of losing someone so beloved. May you find comfort and peace in knowing that your loved one is in God's memory because those who pass on "are precious in his eyes." Psalms 116:15; 1 John 4:9
