George W. Buckley, 90, a resident of Easton for the past 53 years, died Nov. 9, Saturday evening at home under the care of his family. He was the husband of the late Claire G. (Toomey) Buckley. Born in Boston on May 11, 1923, a son of the late Joseph and Georgianna (Brooks) Buckley, he was raised in Boston and Sharon, graduated from Sharon High School and continued his education at Northeastern University in Boston. A veteran of WWII, George served in the US Army as a Sergeant and participated in the Invasion of Normandy. Upon honorable discharge, he took a position as an electrician with New England Telephone Company which was later known as AT&T and was with the company for 40 years. George was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. His hobbies included reading, traveling with his late wife Claire, amateur photography, following the stock market, and caring for both his property and horses. He was also an avid car enthusiast. George is survived by ten children, Barbara Murphy of Abington, Margaret Ferrisi of Easton, Beverly Gill of Sharon, Gretchen McGann of Taunton, William Buckley of Marlboro, Kevin Buckley of Westwood, Lisa Silvia of Taunton, Patricia Salmon of Somerset, Teresa Buckley of Easton and Brian Buckley of Norton; 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Brooks Buckley. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday, Nov. 13, from Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte.138), Easton, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in the Holy Cross Church, Easton, at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors followed in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours were on Tuesday, Nov. 12, from 4 - 8 p.m. Due to floral restrictions at the cemetery donations in Georges memory may be sent to the Holy Cross Church Building Fund, 225 Purchase Street, Easton.
