John M. Jake Walsh, 82, died Sunday evening, Aug. 12, at home under the care of his family. He was the husband of Edna (Meagher) Walsh for 43 years. Born in Boston, May 1, 1930, a son of the late John T. and Mary (Sheehan) Walsh, he was raised in Dorchester and was a graduate of Saint Matthews School. A veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, he served as a private in the U.S. Army during WWII and as a seaman apprentice in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. John was a self-employed auto body repair mechanic. A resident of Easton for the past 43 years, he was devoted to his family and his hobbies included fishing, gardening and walking. In addition to his wife Edna, he is survived by four children, John M. Walsh Jr. and his wife Holly of Easton, Joseph M. Andrea and his wife Bernadette of Bridgewater, Susan Grant and her husband Robert of Middleboro and Patricia Andrea of Riverview, Fla.; a sister, Helen Tortora of California; a brother, James Walsh of Florida; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was also the grandfather of the late Melissa Andrea and brother of the late Daniel Walsh, Ester Walsh and Mary Dye. Visiting hours were held Aug. 16, from 4-8 p.m. in Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington St. (Rte. 138), Easton, followed by a funeral service with military honors at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
