Gladys L. Eidson Obituary
Gladys L. (Matthews) Eidson, 88, of Brockton, formerly of Easton, died Thursday, July 4, 2013, at home under the care of her family. She was the wife of the late Jess Eidson. Born in Cambridge, Jan. 29, 1925, a daughter of the late Frank and Edna (Cameron) Matthews, she was raised and educated in Boston. A devoted wife and mother, she was a former troop leader for the Girl Scouts of America and a former member of Sweet Adelines International. A former member of the Evangelical Congregational Church of Easton, she was active with the church choir. An avid bowler, she was a member of the Westgate Lane Bowling League and Maple Alley. She enjoyed cooking and gardening and traveling with her family every other year to Missouri for vacation. She was a resident of Easton for 45 years before moving to Brockton 15 years ago. Gladys is survived by two daughters, Donna Peters of Brockton and Gail Jones of Halifax; three grandchildren, Marc Peters of Brockton, Ashley Crocker of Brockton and Stephanie Jones of Halifax; four great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Christopher, Codie-Lee and Dakota; and two great great-grandchildren, Aidan and Harrison. She was also the mother of the late Joan Crocker Leedberg and grandmother of the late Darlene Peters, Gary Jones and Wendy Crocker Sullivan. Visiting hours were held July 11, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington St. (Rte. 138), Easton, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
