Jerry Paradee Obituary
November 24, 1957 | July 3, 2014, Jerry Paradee, lifelong resident of Marblehead, MA, died peacefully on July 3, 2014 at the Salem Hospital ICU. He was born at the Mary Alley Hospital and was educated in the Marblehead Public school system through high school. He is survived by his Aunt, Ruth Banks Geary of Marblehead; also his aunts, Alma Banks Cook of Peabody and Dorothy Banks of Florida. He also leaves a sister, Cheryl Paradee of Salem and a brother, John Paradee of New York City. He was the son of the late Joan and Albert Paradee and the grandson of Vesta and John Banks, (who founded the Gerry 5 on Sewall Street). Jerry developed and nurtured lifelong Marblehead friends and was known for his broad knowledge of flowers and plants and for his love for and expertise in gardening. He was a natural animal lover from childhood and had an uncanny ability to relate to and understand what animals felt and what they needed. He was the dog whisperer, particularly to his little friend, Dooley. He was truly a gentle man in all respects. Jerry worked at such local enterprises as Pennis, as a boy and for many years he was with Carrs Nursery in Marblehead. He commuted from Hamilton and Rowley where he was involved in the boarding and training of horses and also taught riding with his friend, Betty. He was most recently the manager of Greens Ace Hardware on Atlantic Avenue in Marblehead. He will be greatly missed by friends and family and donations in his memory may be made to the Friends of Marblehead Abandoned Animals, 44 Village Street, Marblehead, MA 01945, or online at www.marblehead-animal-shelter.org.
