Janet E. (Piver) Gladue, 76, of East Sandwich and Middleboro, formerly of Brockton, died Monday, March 31, 2014, at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston after a year-long battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife for 56 years of William J. Gladue. Janet was born in Brockton, April 14, 1938, and was the daughter of the late James and Rose (Poliseno) Piver. Janet was a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1956, living most of her life in Brockton. She was lovingly regarded by all she came in contact with over her years working as a school bus driver, ceramics teacher, waitress, jewelry salesperson, and medical assistant. In her retirement years, she and her husband enjoyed spending time with family and friends on Cape Cod and in Florida. Janet was a warm and welcoming soul and the family's world will be a colder place without her. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Lisa A. (Gladue) Gavigan and her husband Michael of Middleboro; her three grandsons, Gregory Gavigan of Waltham, William Gavigan of Wakefield, and Daniel Gavigan of Middleboro; her siblings, James Piver and his wife Sandra of South Yarmouth, John Piver and his wife Rosalie of Scituate, Rosemarie Kent and her husband Peter of East Taunton and DeeDee and her husband Richard Greenberg of Abington; and several nieces and nephews. Janet was the mother of the late Gayle M. Gladue who passed away in 1992 at the age of 32 from heart complications. Visitation was held Friday, April 4, 4-8 p.m. in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123), Brockton. A procession formed at the funeral home Saturday, April 5, at 8 a.m. for a funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church (West and Torrey Streets), Brockton, at 9 a.m. Burial in the family lot in Calvary Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Boston Heart Walk in memory of Gayle Gladue, 81 Buttercup Lane, Hanover, MA 02339.
