Kenneth R. Locklin, age 79, of Newport, N.C. died peacefully, Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at his home, following an illness. He was the beloved husband of Beverly J. (Duncan) Locklin. Born January 2, 1935 in Franklin, a son of the late Onsville and Annie (Rabbette) Locklin, he was a former resident of Franklin, and Hopedale before moving to North Carolina many years ago. He was raised and educated in Franklin, and was a graduate of Franklin High School class of 1954. Until his retirement several years ago, he worked for the Raytheon Company for over 25 years. He served in the United States Army with the 4th Armored Division in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1954. Kenneth treasured time spent with his family, and was involved with the Boy Scouts of America in Hopedale for many years. In addition to his wife of 54 years he is survived by 2 sons, David B. Locklin and his wife Tami of Hopedale, and Kevin A. Locklin and his wife Martha of Antioch, California, 2 sisters, Sandra Haltom of Franklin and Joanne Eisner of Blackstone. Also surviving are his granddaughters, Brittany and McKealy of Hopedale and Sarah and Holly of California. He was the brother of the late Warren and James Locklin and Barbara Dunlop. Relatives and friends were invited to attend his funeral service Tuesday, May 13th at 12 noon in the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St., Franklin.
