Penelope Pyle Obituary

Penelope (Palestis) Pyle of Savoy, IL, went home to be with her Lord on April 1st, 2010. She died at Carle Foundation Hospital after a brief illness. Penny, as she is known to all, was born to Stavros and Despina Palestis on November 30, 1930 in Jersey City, New Jersey. She was an only child. Penny Palestis married John Pyle on September the 11th, 1949. She is survived by her children Dr. Rhea and her husband Jim Antonio of Georgetown, MA, Rev. George Pyle and his wife Valerie of Sadorus, IL, Rev. Dean (Ami) Pyle of OFallon, Missouri, and her grandchildren, George, Dean, Demi, Evyenia, Thanasi, Enoch, and Caleb with whom she was delighted. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Panorhea, and her grandson Stefan. A long time court stenographer in New Jersey, Penny managed and leased commercial real estate in Dallas, Texas until her retirement in 2000. In 2004, she moved to Parkview Senior Apartments in Savoy. Visiting hours were held at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody from 9-11 a.m., Saturday, April 10, 2010 followed by a Trisagion Memorial Service at 11:00 am. Burial took place at the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Peabody where she was interred next to her mother. A funeral service was held at the Three Hierarchs Greek Orthodox Church, Champaign, Illinois on Monday, April 5, 2010. Among her many interests in life, Penny Pyle excelled in loving people, especially those in need. Her lifes work was charity exhibited through her involvement with the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ladies Philoptochos Patris of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Woburn, MA. For directions and on-line obituary, visit www.ccbfuneral.com
