Girard R. Label

WENHAM Mr. Girard R. Dick Label, 84, beloved husband of Jean U. (Mitchell) Lebel, died Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Alfred and Marie (Gagnon) Lebel. He earned a Bachelors Degree in accounting from Northeastern University in Boston. An honorably discharged veteran, he served is country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Army. Mr. Lebel had been employed for many years as Vice President and Treasurer of Bay Bank and Trust until the time of his retirement. He also operated his own tax and accounting business for many years. As a young man, Mr. Label was also an accounting teacher at Burdett School in Boston. A longtime resident of the Town of Wenham, he volunteered as treasurer of the Community Service of Hamilton - Wenham and was a trumpet player for the Salem Philharmonic Orchestra. He was a l oving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife whom he shared sixty years of marriage, he is survived by two daughters, Christine Lebel of Wenham and Suzanne L. Cosgrove of Boston, one son, Fredric Lebel and his wife, Elizabeth of Wenham, four grandchildren, Hanna and Jack Label and Reese and Amelia Cosgrove, a brother, Rudolph Rudy Lebel and his wife, Eleanor of TX and four nieces, Kathleen, Maureen, Judy and Janet. Visiting hours were held in the Campbell Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, North Beverly, Monday, from 4 7 p.m. Burial will be private.
