Robert John (Bob) Zedik, of Hanover, 75, passed away peacefully at home on March 4, 2013 after a long illness. Born and raised in Johnson City, NY he was the son of the late John A. and Angeline M. Zedik. Bob was predeceased by his sister Marguerite Dewhurst of Atlanta, GA and is survived by his sister Virginia Dietrichsen of Cary, NC. He was a 1955 graduate of Johnson City High School and received his B.S. from Norwich University (Class 1959) and his M.S. from Liberty University. He is survived by Marilyn (Warner) Zedik, his wife of 53 years and his 5 children. Robert J. Zedik Jr. of Fort Worth, TX; Karin Gerrish and husband Jeff of Hanover; Janine Donovan and husband Jim of Hanover; Christy Loaiza and husband Steve of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA and David Zedik and his wife Michelle (McCormack) of Fort Worth, TX. He proudly leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons and many nieces and nephews. Before his retirement he was employed at State Street Bank and worked for many years at the Holy Cross Fathers Retreat House at Stonehill College as Lay Director, where he facilitated marriage enrichment, youth retreats, and Cursillo weekends. He also worked for many years in medical and real estate sales. Bob was a faithful and active member of St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Parish in Hanover serving as lector, religious educator and marriage preparation facilitator. His greatest joys were time spent with family and friends participating in lively discussions and entertaining all with his great sense of wit and humor and an occasional ditty on the gut bucket. The family received relatives and friends on Thursday, March 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover Street, Hanover, MA. A Mass in celebration of Bobs life was held Friday, March 8, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary followed by internment at Hanover Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bobs memory to Cardinal Cushing Centers, 400 Washington Street, Hanover, MA 02339 or the Holy Cross Fathers Retreat House, 490 Washington Street, North Easton, MA 02356.
