Joseph Capozzi Obituary

Joseph Charles Capozzi, 63, of Hanover, passed away on Saturday, July 12, at his home after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Manhattan to Joseph A. and Anna and raised in the Bronx, New York. Joe graduated from Mount St. Michaels Academy High School and received his Bachelors degree in business administration in 1973 from Manhattan College, the same year he married his loving wife Ellen. They lived in Hanover for the last twenty years. Joe worked the majority of his life as a V.P. of Sales and Marketing for major banks on the East Coast but later in life found his true calling of preaching and teaching the Word of God. He most enjoyed the time he was able to fellowship with family and friends. Joe is survived by his wife of forty years Ellen, his mother Anna, his sister Terri Keenan and his children Michael, David and his wife Jen, James and his wife Lauren and Timothy. He leaves three grandchildren, Annabelle, Oliver and Myles. There was a memorial service to honor Joes life and legacy on Saturday, July 19, at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Weymouth, 40 West St. in Weymouth. Joe requested that this be a service in which, first and foremost God be lifted high. In lieu of flowers, if you so choose, donations can be made to the Capozzi Family Fund, Community Baptist Church, 17 Mutton Lane, East Weymouth, MA 02189. Checks can be written out to Community Baptist Church, with Capozzi Family Memorial written in the memo. If you would like to leave a message for the family, please visit www.ccshepherd.com. C. C. Ellen, Mike, David, Tim - I was just made aware that Joe Passed away. I am so sad and I know how much he meant to me - I can only imagine how you must feel. My family knew Joe through his affiliation with So. Weymouth Church of the Nazarene and Eastern Nazarene College. Joe and I took classes together through Reynolds Institute for Ordination in the Nazarene Church. The reason I made it through that was due to the efforts of Joe at ENC on my behalf. We have all lost a great guy. I loved him as a brother and would have been at his celebration had I known before today. God bless and may the God we serve hold him gently in His hands and bring peace and comfort to you all. Love you and I am praying for you. Rev. John B Townsend, Chaplain, Marlborough, Ma

I was so sad to hear of Joe's passing. I have found memories of working with Joe at ENC and hearing him preach with conviction at Fort Square Presby Church. He brought the church great messages at a time when he was greatly needed.

Ellen - I was so sad to hear of. Joe 's passing. I am the custom clothier who made clothing for Joe for roughly 20 years. He loved his clothing ! Joe was so energetic and passionate, it's no wonder he was such a success in business and in ministry. We as a company made some mistakes with Joe's clothing over the years, but he was always so forgiving about it, and so loyal as a client. He really taught me about graciousness and honesty. I will miss him. My prayers to you and your family. - Bill Lambert, Tom James Clothing

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
