Dorothy R. Fordyce Obituary
Dorothy R. "Dot" Fordyce, 95, of Hanover passed away peacefully at Royal Norwell Nursing Home August 25, 2014. She was the beloved wife of the late Henry "Bud" Fordyce; devoted mother of Kirt Fordyce of Hanover and his wife Barbara and the late Colin Fordyce and Todd Fordyce; cherished "Nana" to Kim Fordyce McDonald of Virginia Beach, Tina ODay and her husband Christopher of Manila, Philippines, Jennifer Curran of Plymouth, Dina Wiroll and her husband Jamie of Billerica, and Daniel Fordyce of Hanover. She was the great-grandmother to Nicholas Curran, Mac and Kaley ODay, and Isabella and AJ Wiroll; daughter of the late George and Margaret Rennie of New Haven, Conn. She was the sister of the late George, Wendell, Colin, and Ernest Rennie. She was Auntie Dot to many nieces and nephews. Her greatest passions were walking many miles with her walking clubs and daily walk to the North River, bird watching, bowling, having lunch with the lunch bunch, swimming with the Silver Bells at the health club, and taking her grandchildren on many adventures. She was employed by Winchester Repeating Arm Co., and did so until the end of World War II. She devoted much of her life to the community as a bus driver for the St. Colettas/ Cardinal Cushing Center and for Meals on Wheels for 30 years. She was the owner of the Hanover Cab Company for 10 years. She was also an avid Red Sox fan. Her many talents included painting, stained glass, sewing, knitting, archery, and poetry. She taught her grandchildren many of these talents. Visiting hours were in the Sullivan Funeral Homes, 551 Washington Street, Hanover, Tuesday, Sept. 2, from 4-7 p.m. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Hanover Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothys memory may be made to the Cardinal Cushing Center, 405 Washington St., Hanover MA 02339.
