James L. Blue, Sr., 84, of Woodside Road, died Monday, November 25, 2013, at Nashoba Valley Medical Center, Ayer. Mr. (Jim) Blue was born in Capahosic, Virginia on May 20, 1929 and moved to Harvard, MA in 1935. He was the son of James R. and Carrie (Hazard) Blue. Jim was a 1948 graduate of The Bromfield School in Harvard and continued his education at Clark University in Worcester, MA, where he received a bachelors degree in business administration in 1952. He also took post graduate business courses. Before his retirement in 1991, Mr. Blue worked as an accounts manager at Digital Equipment Corporation in Acton. Previously, he was the business manager at Rome Building Products in Worcester, for over twenty years. He also worked at the old Tannery in Ayer for several years.

Jim leaves his beloved wife of 60 years, Joanne M. (Wilson) Blue, six children: Joan L. Blue of Stoneham; James L. Blue, Jr. of Santa Rosa, CA; Joyce (Blue) Shand and husband, Devon of Worcester; John M. Blue and wife, Crystal of Hyannis; Joseph L. Blue and wife, Celia of Worcester; Jeffrey M. Blue and wife, Kendra of Framingham. He also leaves 9 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and multiple cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Alan S. Blue. Mr. Blue was a member of the Harvard Congregational Church, the Espirit De Corps, and the Harvard Lions Club, and had been active in the NAACP. He enjoyed watching the Boston sports teams. He very much enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Harvard Congregational Church, 5 Still River Road, Harvard. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Harvard after the service.
