Obituary Condolences

Kathleen Marion Helm, 94, formerly of Brewster, MA, passed away peacefully April 17, 2012 in Grass Valley, California. Born February 17, 1918 in Winsford England, Kathleen met her husband, Donald Helm during WW II while he was stationed in England prior to the Normandy invasion. During WWII, Kathleen worked at Empirical Chemical Corporation and also served her country as an ambulance driver. Kathleen and Donald were married shortly after the war and she spent the next 25 years as a military wife to Donald and mother to her two children John and Rachel. After the death of Donald in 1971, Kathleen worked as a secretary to the University of New Hampshire's Ombudsman and moved to Brewster, Massachusetts upon her retirement in 1983. She lived in Brewster for the next 25 years and moved to California in 2009 to live with her daughter, Rachel. Kathleen loved her garden, a good glass of wine with friends and watching the sunsets at Sunset Beach in Brewster. She was preceded in death by her husband and her son. She is survived by her daughter, Rachel, her daughter-in-law Stephanie and her grandsons, Matthew and Dennis. Friends are welcome to attend her memorial service at Hallett Funeral Home at 273 Station Avenue, South Yarmouth, MA on Saturday, April 28th at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History at www.ccmnh.org.
