William Ezra Warren, 80, of Wellfleet, passed away peacefully on Dec. 10, 2013. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Whitaker) Warren and brother of Jane Warren Cuyler. He is survived by his wife, Beverly (Scott) Eastman Warren, of Wellfleet. William (Bill) was raised in Newton, MA and graduated from Summit High School in Summit, NJ. He received a bachelors degree in history from Amherst College and did graduate studies in architecture at MIT. Following college, Bill was a lieutenant in the USAF, flying B-25 planes as part of a search and rescue group in Alaska and the west coast. Bill worked as an architect in Boston for over 35 years. Bill loved the out of doors, in particular hiking, fly fishing, camping and skiing. Many vacations and weekends were spent at the old family home in Vermont. His later years were spent kayaking the Wellfleet bays and playing golf year-round. He loved visiting with family and especially his grandchildren. A lifelong learner, Bill was an avid reader and had a great interest in politics, science and sports. Bill thoroughly enjoyed talking to everyone about anything, was generous, open-minded and loved a good laugh. Bill was particularly gifted at teaching his skills and interests to others and taught many people to ski, kayak and cast a fly. Besides his wife Beverly, he is survived by his children: Susan Warren and her husband Dave Shepard of Middlesex, VT; Robin Warren and her partner David Coupe of Portland, OR; Douglas Warren and his wife Karen of Broomfield, CO; his stepchildren, Scott Eastman and his wife Dawnnica of New York, NY and Laura Eastman of Seattle, WA; his grandchildren, Brendan Shepard, Katelyn Warren, Eila and Sonia Eastman and Hazel Walton; niece Juliana Cuyler Dolan, nephew Alex Cuyler, and cousins, Caleb Hale and Ezra Hale. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Wellfleet Historical Society and Museum (wellfleethistoricalsociety.org), P.O. Box 58, Wellfleet, MA 02667, in memory of William E. Warren. A memorial visitation was held on Sat. Dec. 14th at Nickerson Funeral Home, 340 Main St., Wellfleet. A memorial service will be held in Vermont in the Spring.
