Herbert W. Timmy Cobb, of Hingham, passed away Aug. 5, 2014, at the age of 91, with his family by his side. His legacy is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Marguerite L. Peggy (Kelly); his daughter, Diane C. Sparks of Hingham; and his son, Donald K. Cobb and his wife Kimberly of Hingham. Tim also says goodbye to 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Tim was born in Melrose, but spent most of his life in Hingham. A graduate of Hingham High School, Tim went on to serve his country in the United States Army during World War II. He earned the rank of Sergeant in General Pattons 3rd Army, 4th Armored Division, 723rd Artillery Battalion. Tim also received 4 battle stars for his honorable service in Normandy, Northern France, the Ardennes and the Rhineland. Another notable battle in which he served was the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he went on to own the TV & Appliance Center in downtown Hingham for over 30 years. Tim was well loved by his friends and it is said that he could fix just about anything. A funeral service was held at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham, Saturday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m. Interment in St. Pauls Cemetery in Hingham.
