Sam and Lark Kalstad
December 25, 2019
On this Christmas Day, my wife Lark and I were just reminiscing about the wonderful friends we've had in our 26 yrs of marriage. The first that came to mind were Jackie and Roman who we met at the Alameda, CA dog park. We became good friends and felt grateful to have met them. I just looked up Roman online since it's been over 20 yrs since they moved to Massachusetts and we moved to Eugene, OR. I wish we had kept in contact. We are both shaken badly right now after coming across Roman's legacy in the obit from 2016. What a loss that we cannot imagine for Jackie, their three girls and all the others that had the fortune to know the Ranocha's. Too soon for such a funny, strong, good man to pass. Jackie, we miss you and we are so very sorry for your loss. Let's reach out sometime and you are all very welcome at our home anytime!

I miss you, Dad. It is the perfect weather for soccer tennis right now and I wish we could play.

Vem v rodin, peji upímnou soustrast a hodn síly do dalího ivota.

I cannot put into words what a wonderful guy Roman was.
Playing soccer with him at Hingham High for 15 years, teammate in over 40 mens league at SSSC for 6 years and teammate on scorpions coed soccer for over 2 years.
When he scored a goal (which was all the time) I would always scream out "ROMANO"
Roman gave me a bday card last year at my 60th birthday being celebrated at south shore sports center.
His last words on the card were-
Jimmy I want to play soccer with you for another 15 years.
I will think of Roman every time I walk out on the soccer pitch, as will all our teammates.
I will never forget you.
I send my deepest sympathy to Romans family.

My deepest condolences. I had Emma and Libby in 8th grade and enjoyed hearing about your wonderful family and many adventures. His legacy will love on in his beautiful daughters. May God hold you all in the palm of his hand.

Roman, we will never forget the positive impact you had on our soccer teams. Your passion for the game and teaching the girls to play and to have fun doing it will stay with them forever. I know Delaney has become a better soccer player and person because of you. We will never forget you, may you rest in peace.
