W. Warren Murray of Holbrook, formerly of Quincy, passed away after a period of failing health May 13, 2013, at the age of 86. He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Mabel (Polk) Murray; loving father of Carol A. Marr of Lowell, Cheryl L. Bender of Acushnet, and Ellen M. Meister of Randolph; devoted brother of Richard C. Murray of Weymouth. Also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Murray was born in Arlington, where he grew up before moving to Boston. He attended Boston Trade High School. He was a cabinet maker for Wood-Hu Kitchen for 21 years until 1992. Prior to that he was a service station operator and mechanic in Holbrook. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the Brockton V.F.W. Post 1046 and the W. Quincy American Legion Post 294. Warren was very active in the Boy Scouts of America for over 60 years. He had held every volunteer position in Boy Scouts right up to Assistant District Commissioner and was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 69 South Franklin St. (Rte. 37), Holbrook. Funeral services Friday, May 17, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours were Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
