James R. Moynihan, 78 of Redington Shores, FL passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, December 20th . He is surviv- ed by his wife of 54 years, Anne, his children Mary, Stephen and David and grandchildren Devon, Dylan, Riley and Molly. He is also survived by his brothers Robert, Daniel and Thomas, along with num- erous nieces and nephews. James was born and raised in Westborough, MA and was one of nine children of Phillip and Agnes Moynihan. The Moynihan family, famously owned the Central House in downtown Westboro for nearly 60 years. Although the business was sold in 1974, old-timers still refer to the establishment as Moynihans. James was a construction engineer, working for Whitman and Howard, Construction Dynamics Group and Arcadis during his career, retiring in 2013. Affectionately called Grumpy by friends and family, James had a passion for fishing, whether it was at the Westborough reservoir, the Florida Keys or Alaska. James also had a great sense of humor and could entertain a crowd with interesting and humorous stories of his childhood. James loved his wife Anne with all of his heart and they shared so many wonderful experiences over their 54 years of marriage. Having served as a volunteer firefighter in Westborough, James was proud that his children shared his commitment to service. His daughter, Mary served for 24 years in the United States Air Force. His son, David, is a Detective with the Baltimore, MD Police Department and his son, Stephen is a Search and Rescue volunteer in Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Texas Search and Rescue at www.texsar.org.

Jim was a great friend and a joy to be with. We went to school together from first to twelfth grade in Westboro. After we graduated we roomed together as night firemen in the old fire station. He always was quick with a funny story, a lot of which originated in and around the Central House.
He will be missed by his family, friends and classmates from WHS '58. I am proud to have known him and to be his friend.
