William N. Stone Bill, 82, of Marlborough, MA, died Sunday, June 9, 2013 after a lengthy illness at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, Worcester, MA. A graduate of Waltham High School, Bill served his country, enlisting with the United States Coast Guard, and was honorably discharged after one enlistment on the USCG Cutter Casco (WAVP 370). Following his discharged he attended the Boston School of Architecture. He was an avid fisherman, and shared his interest through the years with anyone fortunate enough to cross his path near a body of water. He was a member of the New England Fly Tying Association, and a former Marlborough Fish and Game Club member. While he was self |employed as a commercial realtor for over 40 years in Metrowest, he gained membership within the National Association of Realtors. Fishing may have been Bills interest, but his passion was his family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years; Barbara May (Walsh) Stone, of Marlborough, his daughter, Cheryl (Stone) and her husband Martin Foley of Marlborough and son, William D. Stone and Ruthie Fowler of Hickory, NC. He was also very proud of his beloved grandsons, Timothy Foley of San Fransisco,CA, USCG BM2 Daniel Foley stationed in Boston, MA and Jared Stone of Denver, CO, and his sister, Virginia Dahlin of Sterling, MA.Born in Cambridge, MA, he was the son of the late Robert and Loretta (Nelson) Stone and the brother of the late Robert and Theodore Stone. Bill was a frequent visitor of Marthas Vineyard and Cape Cod, often in pursuit of various fishing adventures with friends and family. He could also be found at local yard sales, or tinkering and inventing in his basement. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 from 4-7 pm at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough, MA. A funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday, June 13 at 11:00 am at The First Church in Marlborough (Congregational), 37 High St., Marlborough, MA. Burial will be held at the National Cemetery, Bourne, MA and will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Church (Congregational) 37 High St., Marlborough, MA 01752
