Dorothy Lee (Kimball Romano) Walton, 70, went home to be with the Lord on February 19, 2013 following her courageous battle with cancer. Born in Portland, ME on January 19, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Beatrice Kimball Davis, the late Robert Arthur Kimball and the step daughter of the late Blaine Edmund Davis. She is preceded in death by her husband Dante Romano in 1964 and husband Thomas Charles Walton in 2001. Dottie is survived by a son Thomas Walton and his wife Stella of Raleigh, NC; a daughter Kimberlee Spores and her husband Kenneth of Durham, NC; and a step-daughter Sharon Jacobs and her husband Thomas of Virginia Beach, VA. She leaves her 7 cherished grandchildren: Jack, Ashlyn, Jennifer, Matthew, Elizabeth, Crissie and Dustin. Dottie graduated from Cathedral High School in Portland Maine and attended the University of Southern Maine - Portland. She lived in Framingham, MA and Ipswich, MA from 1967-1989. She worked for North Shore Weeklies for 15 years in Advertising and served in 1978 & 1979 as President of The Town & Country Garden Club of Ipswich. In 1989, the Walton's relocated to Raleigh, NC where Dottie served as President of The Newcomers Club of Raleigh. In 1993, they continued to Wilmington, NC where she worked for Safeguard Business Systems for 14 years. She also owned and operated a successful jewelry business, specializing in fine diamonds and jewelry. Dottie was an active leader of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and served on many ministries, where she was elected to the Pastoral Council for 8 years. In 2010, Dottie moved to Cary, NC to be closer to her loving grandchildren, where she became active in the Heritage Pines Adult Community. She also danced with the Silver Strutters' from Hillsborough, NC and served as a minister of Holy Communion and Bridal Ministries at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cary. She would like to thank the wonderful people at Hospice of Wake County, especially Mary O'Conner and Barbara Hill. She is also thankful to Dr. Mark Weissler and his staff at UNC Healthcare for their compassion and caring treatment. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 23rd beginning at 10:45 AM at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cary, NC.
