Edward Sukach Obituary

Edward Sukach, 77, of Dornell Road, husband of Phyllis J. (Wilson) Sukach, died Saturday, January 21, 2012 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers, following his long illness. Born in Beverly July 20, 1934, the only child of the late Ignatius and Helen (Czepanowski) Sukach, he was raised in both Beverly and Lynn and was a 1953 graduate of Lynn Trade School. He served six years with the National Guard, Company A, 101st Engineers Battalion. Married in 1954 in Lynn the Sukach's made their home on Dornell Road the following year. Throughout these years he had been employed as a quality control engineer, working at Polaroid, Draper Labs and Gould Inc. of Newburyport from which he retired in 1986. Ed was an avid photographer, taking great pride in doing local shows. He was also an outdoor sportsman, a member of the Cape Ann Sportsman Club of Gloucester, and was a longtime and active member of the John T. Heard Masonic Lodge of Ipswich. He was a Past High Priest of Ipswich/Ferson Royal Arch Chapter, Past Patron of Heard Chapter #94 OES and a member of the United Methodist Church of Ipswich. In addition to his wife of fifty-seven years he is survived by a son, David P. Sukach of Ipswich; two daughters, Lori J. Thayer of Gloucester and Karen L. Cecilio and her husband Marc of Ipswich; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Dodge of Salem, Jesse, Steven and Kelly Thayer all of Gloucester, Tiffani Cecilio of Texas, Marc Cecilio II of Ipswich, Kayla Callahan of Beverly and Kyle Callahan of Ipswich. Visiting hours will be Wednesday 4 to 8 pm with a Royal Arch Service at 7 pm in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. His interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his name may be made to Ipswich/Ferson Royal Arch Chapter, c/o Wayne Anderton, 14 Willow Street, Gloucester, MA 01930.
