Mr. John Joseph Sforza, 73 of Ipswich, formerly of Dover, Massachusetts, beloved husband of Mary A. (Seluta) Sforza, died following a brief illness, Friday, June 13th, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Antonio and Elveira (Abbondanza) Sforza. He was raised and educated in Boston. An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserves. Mr. Sforza was the co-founder and treasurer of Maurer & Sforza Inc., Mechanical Contractors. Well respected throughout the construction industry, John's company completed many large projects throughout New England through the thirty two years he was in business. He founded the company in 1968 and until the time of his retirement in the year 2000, Maurer & Sforza was known for the quality of the work they produced. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, John enjoyed spending his time golfing, reading and skiing. He had a passion for geography but above all else he enjoyed spending time with his beloved family. He will be deeply missed. In addition to his loving wife of 44 years, John is survived by his daughter, Julie M. Sforza of Ipswich, his sons, John J. Sforza Jr and his wife Doria of Stow and James J. Sforza and his wife Mary of Ipswich, his two grandchildren, Austin and Johnny Sforza, his two sisters Christina Faro and her husband Richard of Ipswich and Lucille Borrello of Westford and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Elaine Russo. ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Wednesday, June 18th at 9 A.M. followed by his funeral Mass in Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 1 Pineswamp Rd., Ipswich at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich. Visiting hours Tuesday, June 17th from 4 to 8 P.M.
