Edward Cadmus Haines, Jr., on January 13, 2014, age 76 of Waltham, formerly of Lexington. Born on May 4, 1937, in Moorestown, NJ, to Edward and Marian Haines. Ted attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and graduated with the class of 1959 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. Ted later completed his MS in Electrical Engineering from MIT. He moved to Lexington, with his wife Liz in 1962 where he spent the next 27 years raising his family. Ted was part o f the first generation of programmers, developing new programming languages at Mitre Corporation in the 1960s , and subsequently developing software a t MIT Lincoln Labs, and Bolt, Beranek, & Newman (BB&N), where he worked until retirement in 1999. Ted worked on one of the first email systems while at BB&N in the 80s. Ted was the loving father of the late Charles Haines of Marlborough, (deceased December 31, 2013), Frederick Haines and his wife Rebecca of Arlington, VA, daughter Cindy and husband Al of Chelmsford, MA, and grandfather to Tyler, Austin and Justin. He was formerly married to Elizabeth Haines-Papagiannis of Lexington and to Connie D ennison of Arlington, MA. He is also survived by his sisters Elizabeth (Betty) Williamson, Martha (Molly) Haines nd many nieces and nephews. Private family burial at a later date.
