James Ralph MacInnes, (son of the late James R. and Marjorie (Manser) MacInnes), of Peterborough, NH, passed away peacefully from cancer on June 13, 2013, surrounded by his family. Jim was born in Medford, MA on September 24, 1929, graduated from Belmont High, class of 1947; received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Fitchburg State College in 1951, and a Master of Education from Boston University in 1958. He was a 32nd degree Mason, belonging to the Webster, MA Lodge. He was a veteran of the Korean War, spending his tour of duty in Aberdeen, MD as an instructor. The majority of Jims career was working 35 years in the Lexington, MA school system, first as an Industrial Arts teacher, then many years as the Assistant Superintendent of Schools. He was also a past president of The Massachusetts School Business Officials. Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to volunteering, including the Boy Scouts of America - Troop 304 of Belmont, MA, The Red Cross, and The United Methodist Churches in Belmont and Osterville, MA, and Peterborough, NH, and most recently, President of the Monadnock Country Club in Peterborough, NH. Summers were spent golfing, and relaxing at their cottage on Scoby Pond, in Francestown, NH, that he had personally built in 1956. He was devoted to his family and friends and to helping others. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara (Alden) MacInnes; a brother Harry and his wife Shirley of Lake Wakes, FL; two sons; Rick and his wife Patsy of Columbia, MD, and John and his wife Gail of Francestown, NH; Four grandchildren; Katie and her fianc Sean of Columbia, MD; Brian and his wife Lauren of San Jose, CA; Stephen of Boston, MA; and Megan of Francestown, NH. Extended family grandchildren include Jonathan, Kevin, and Chris Holdredge. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, July 14, at 1:00 PM at The Old Meeting House, located in the center of Francestown, NH. A reception will follow at the Monadnock Country Club, 49 High Street, Peterborough, NH 03458.
