Richard L. Burke of Newburyport passed away on Sunday September 30, 2012 from complications following surgery . His wife Judy and children Katie and Richie were by his side. Rich was born on October 3, 1953 in Lexington, MA, son of Robert L. Burke and the late Carolyn S. Burke. He was a 1972 graduate of Lexington High School, and 1976 graduate of Westfield State College. He was employed by E.I. Dupont for over 28 years as the North American Sales Manager-OEM Ink and was currently with Avery-Dennison as a Distribution Sales Manager in Graphics and Reflective Solutions. Rich loved his family first and foremost. In his youth he enjoyed spending summers on Lake Winnipesaukee. He continued this love of the water with years of boating on the Parker and Merrimack Rivers. Rich was also a tremendous athlete that filtered down to his children. He raised his family in Newburyport and has many friends here and across the country. He cherished the days he spent cheering his kids on from the sidelines. He also coached youth basketball and baseball teams in Newburyport. He will be dearly missed. Rich is survived by his wife of 30 years, Judith Curley Burke, his daughter Kaitlin A. Burke, his son Richard L. Burke, Jr., his father Robert L. Burke and his sister Janice Williams of Lexington and Tizzy Burke of Tuftonboro, NH. He was pre-deceased by his mother Carolyn and his brother Lance. He also leaves his sisters-in-law Kathy Salmonson and Joanne Harrison of Newburyport, Jayne Curley Kowa of Knoxville, TN and brother-in-law Eddie Curley of Newburyport and 8 nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday 10:30 Am at the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 pm at the Twomey-LeBlanc and Conte Funeral Home, 193 High Street, Newburyport, Ma 01950 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rich"s name to Beth-Israel Deaconess Medical Center Pancreatic Cancer Research, Brookline Ave. Boston, MA 02215.
