Ethel V. Adamson Obituary
Ethel V. Adamson, 93, of Cromwell, CT, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2014. She was born in Arlington, MA on April 10, 1921 where she was a resident for many years. Ethel was the daughter of the late Oscar and Ida (Swanson) Melin. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Adamson and three brothers, Stanley Melin, Alvar Melin and Carl Melin. Ethel was a sixth grade school teacher for over 38 years in the Arlington, MA school system. She was an active member of the Covenant Church in Cambridge, MA before the church relocated to Lexington and she cherished a leading role as a member of the church choir. After retiring from teaching Ethel moved to Cromwell Village where she enjoyed many years with friends and traveled regularly, enjoying summers at Cape Cod and regular travel adventures like trips back to Sweden to visit the homeland of her parents. Ethel is survived by many nieces and nephews, who enjoyed many years of visits and vacations where she entertained them with her humor and joyous spirit.She will be remembered by friends and family as a woman who was very strong and independent, energetic,very keen of mind, never wavered from her great faith, and selflessly made those she came in contact with feel good about themselves. A memorial service will be held on April 29 at 10:00 AM at the Chapel of Pilgrim Manor, 52 Missionary Rd., Cromwell, CT. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery, Lexington, MA. on April 30, at 12:30 PM. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, New Britain is in charge of arrangements.
