Phyllis S. (Stockwell) Roberts, 99, formerly of Lexington, died Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Corcoran House, Clinton. Her husband, Arthur W. Roberts, died in August 1967. Mrs. Roberts was born in Waterville, Vermont, April 30, 1915, a daughter of Elba R. and Viola (Whitcomb) Stockwell and grew up in Waterville. She was a graduate of Cambridge High School, Cambridge Vermont and continued her education at University of Vermont where she received her teaching certificate. She taught at the Highgate Elementary School in Highgate Center, Vermont. In the 1949 Mrs. Roberts moved to Lexington, Massachusetts where she resided for nearly five decades before returning to the Burlington, Vermont area in 1997. In 2009, she moved to this area to be closer her family. She had been a member of the Lexington United Methodist Church, Lexington, Massachusetts and the Faith United Methodist Church, South Burlington, VT. Mrs. Roberts is survived by two sons, A. Wayne Roberts of South Burlington, VT, David L. Roberts of Hopkinton, NH; two daughters, Pamela J. Beach and her husband, Charles, of Princeton, Patricia E, Christensen of Hudson, FL; a sister. Theda McGrath of Townsend; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Weber Roberts of Hope, ME, Morgan Roberts of Arlington, VT, Ethan Roberts of Grafton, MA, Shaun Christensen of of Matthews, NC, Shaina Harrington of Valley Center, CA, Dana Christensen of Tega Cay, SC, Brandon Beach of Westminster, MA and Linda Carlisle of Franklin, NH; seventeen great grandchildren and several nices and nephews. She was the sister of the late Gaylord Stockwell of Townsend, Ellis Stockwell of Vermont, Bertram Stockwell of Fitchburg and Georgia Leonard of Portland, Maine. Private graveside services will be at Waterville Cemetery, Waterville, VT. There are no calling hours. The T.J.
