David A. Caouette Obituary
David Alan Caouette died tragically in a senseless act of violence on October 12, 2011 in Seal Beach, California. Raised in New England, Dave grew up with a strong sense of tradition and an understanding of hard work. His parents, Winfield and Ethel Caouette, were instrumental in teaching Dave a sense of responsibility and devotion to family. Dave was a selfless patriot who served two tours in Vietnam. Dave's love for the outdoors started from childhood, when his parents took him to various lakes in the Northeast, instilling in him the knowledge that he would pass on to his family. Whether it was Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Oregon, or California, Dave loved spending time with his family in the outdoors. His passion for the outdoors led him to become a trusted and invaluable leader for Land Rover expeditions throughout North America. Dave had a giant heart. His presence was immense and sometimes intimidating, but behind the big burly man he was a soft and caring teddy bear. He was the greatest protector, the man who would make everyone feel safe. He would do anything for anyone he cared about. Dave was a family man. Dave's love for his wife, three children, and grandchildren was evident in everything he did. The tremendous outpouring of love and support from his many friends reminds us of the loss we have all suffered. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Paula; His three children, Cristin Gaskill, Paul Caouette and Katie Caouette. Grandchildren Ellison, Maggie and Bodee; mother Ethel Caouette; a sister and two brothers, Marilyn Hill, Barry Caouette, and Jimmy Caouette; twelve nieces and nephews and eight great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Church of Our Redeemer, in Lexington MA, on November Nineteenth at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to; The Steven T. Hill Stroke Foundation (sthstrokefoundation.org). Steven is David's muchloved nephew.
