Robert Jenal Obituary
Robert Lawrence Jenal, 88, died 3/14/13 in Vero Beach, FL. Bob was born in St. Paul, MN on 11/12/24 to Faye and Edward Jenal. He was baptized and educated at St. Marks parish in St. Paul. He graduated from Cretin High School in 1942. Bob attended St. Thomas College before enlisting with the Army Air Corps. His unit was deployed to the South Pacific in 1944 where he served on the islands of Sai Pan, Iwo Jima and Canton. Bob also attended the University of Minnesota after the War before entering the business world. He was hired as an office boy by the Toni Company which was owned by the Gillette Company. Bob held many different executive and vice presidential positions in St. Paul, Chicago and Boston during his 39 year career with Gillette. In 1952 Bob helped found and served as the first national President of the Association of Information Technology Professionals. Bob married Irene Dahlgren on 11/22/47. He often said it was the best thing he ever did. They had 6 children and enjoyed 65 years of a happy marriage. They retired to Vero Beach in 1986 but retained a home in Lincoln during the summer months. Theirs was a true partnership and their successes as well as their challenges were shared. They lived life to the fullest and always remained loving companions. Bob is survived by his wife Irene and their six children, Susan, Nancy, Bob, Mary, Kathy and Steven. He leaves his nine grandchildren and his first great grandchild. He is survived by his sister Carol and was pre-deceased by his sister Winifred. He will also be missed by his three sons-in-law and daughter-in-law as well as many nieces and nephews. Bobs legacy is reflected in his wife and children and the love they feel for him. He was the consummate father and husband and will be missed by all who knew him. A family service will be held at a later time. Memorial gifts may be made to Senior Resource Association.
