Elizabeth Brown Obituary

Elizabeth G. (Godfrey) "Diddy" Brown, age 93, passed away on Monday, Dec. 26, 2016 at Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley in Littleton after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Charles Perrin Brown who passed away in 2003. She was born in Needham on May 16, 1923, a daughter of the late Archibald Godfrey and Marie (Galvin) Benson. Diddy resided in Westford and was formerly of Chelmsford where she resided for ten years. She was a native of Marblehead and attended Colby Sawyer College. From 1958 until 1993, Diddy resided in Carlisle where she was involved with the Cub Scouts, the Garden Club and was employed by the Carlisle Public Library for many years. She was also a very active parishioner at St. Irene Parish. Among her many interests, Diddy enjoyed cooking, reading, knitting and was an avid skier earlier in her life. During the 1960's, the Brown family owned and operated the White Shutter Lodge in Sunapee, NH during the summer months where she was the general manager. She is survived by her two children, Leslie Phillips and her husband, Robert, and Peter Brown, all of Westford; two grandchildren, Amanda Turcotte and her husband, Todd of Penacook, NH and Sarah Fogg and her husband, Tom of Belmont, NH; three grandchildren, Allison Turcotte and Lucas and Owen Fogg; also many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Charles Perrin Brown, Jr. and sister of the late Elaine Doliber and Richard Godfrey. ARRANGEMENTS - At her request, there will be no calling hours and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of the J. A. Healy Sons Funeral Home, Westford, MA.
