Patrick B. Donoghue

Patrick Bernard Donoghue, a resident of Manchester, New Hampshire, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2013 from lung cancer. He was 74. Born on May 9, 1939 and known by his friends and family as Bernie, he was a long-time resident of Malden where he attended and graduated from Malden Catholic High School in 1957. In the fall of 1960, Bernie entered the Franciscan Monastery located in Eureka, MO where he dedicated his vocation to the field of geriatrics. Later, he attended St. Louis University and St. John's Hospital where he earned his Registered Nursing degree. Upon l eaving the monastery in 1972, Bernie continued his service to the sick and elderly at VA St. Louis Health Care Systems Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis. Bernie retired in 2001 and moved to Manchester, NH to be near family in May of 2005. He was a gifted singer, award winning pottery artisan bu t was best known for his skills as a baker. He was the eldest of four, Peter Donoghue (deceased) of Malden, James Donoghue of Malden and Bernadette (Detta) Donoghue of Manchester NH. Patrick also leaves six nieces, three nephews and five grand nephews and five grandnieces. A memorial service will be held on October 5, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Saint Pious C hurch, 575 Candia Road, Manchester, NH 03104. A lunch reception for family and friends will be held immediately following Mass at a location to be announced.
