Obituary Condolences

Joan B. (Sylvester) Dygert of Melrose passed on July 28th, 2013. Joan was born and raised in Worcester where she graduated from Worcester Classical High School. She was a graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art, and maintained a life-long passion as an award-winning artist and involved member of several local art associations. The loving wife of 49 years to Michael "Mickey" H. Dygert (deceased). She was also the deeply committed mother of daughter Erika D. and husband Jeffrey Robbins of Somerville, and son Kurt M. Dygert of Melrose. Joan was the cherished grandmother of Justice L. and Zane M. McDaniel of Brighton and their father Gavin McDaniel of NH. She was a Melrose resident for 45 years, a caring neighbor, and an avid gardener with her husband Mickey. Joan was a devoted student of Christian Science and an active member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Winchester. She was a devoted sister of Allan B. Sylvester and companion Marge Williamson of Rochdale, Douglas R. and wife Barbara Sylvester of Marlborough, and Michael D. and wife Linda Sylvester of ME. Caring sister-in-law of Charles S. and wife Jean Dygert of WV and Edwin E. Dygert of FL. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private.
