Elinor S. Enos

Elinor S. (Lane) Enos, 85, wife of the late Austin S. Enos of Gloucester, died on Friday June 13, 2014, at her home, following a long illness. In her final days she was lovingly cared for by her son Michael and his wife Terry. Elinor was born in Rockport on June 16, 1928, daughter of Dana C. and Ruth F. (Daggett) Lane. She grew up in Rockport and always kept a special place in her heart for her hometown. Elinor shared 60 years of marriage with her late husband Austin. They enjoyed their times dancing at the VFW in Ipswich with their close friends, and their many cross-country automobile trips during his retirement. They also enjoyed spending time at the Boulevard. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who unconditionally loved and cared for her family. Her husband, children, and then later her grandchildren and great- grandchildren, were everything to her. She especially loved being "Grammy" to her grandchildren, loved spending time with them, and had a special bond with each one. She is survived by three children, Pamela Ponder of Malden, Michael, husband of Theresa "Terry" Enos of Round O, South Carolina and Scott, husband of Jane Enos of Gloucester; 7 grandchildren, Susan, wife of James Ward of Lady Lake, Florida, Sandra, wife of Peter Henderson of Farmington, NH, Sharon, wife of Harley Vance of Groton, VT, Sara Enos of Dover, NH, Daniel Enos, Brian Enos and Caroline Enos, all of Gloucester; 5 great-grandchildren, Aidan Ward of Lady Lake, FL, Jordan and Peter Henderson of Farmington, NH, Harley Vance of Groton, VT, and Aubrey Grimes of Dover, NH; She is also survived by her brother, Chester Lane of Gloucester; sisters-in-law, Irene "Renee" Duwart of Essex, Mary "Babe" Duwart of Gloucester and Mary Knieter of Hereford, Arizona, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Cora Greeke and Elizabeth Veneski and her brothers, Dana Lane Jr., and Robert Lane. Her Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Beechbrook Cemetery in West Gloucester. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
