John F. Krantz, 50, of Peabody, passed away unexpectedly at his home from asthma complications on Tuesday, January 24, 2017. John was born in Boston on July 19, 1966 son of Mary C. (Sweeney) Krantz and the late John F. Krantz. Raised in Quincy he attended Boston College High School, graduating in 1984. He then pursued his builders license at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. John has been employed for 25 years as a custodian at the Beverly U.S. Post Office, and prior to this he was a carpenter and co-owner of J & J Builders on the South Shore. John devoted his life to his son Alex, was an accomplished guitarist who enjoyed playing and listening to music, going to the beach, walking his loyal canine companion Gracie, writing poetry and novels, and was also an avid sports fan. If someone wanted something fixed or built, John was the go to person. In addition to his mother Mary of Quincy, John is survived by his wife of 21 years, Jacqueline E. (Kommers) Krantz and his cherished son, Alex D. Krantz of Peabody; 2 sisters, Caroline T. Krantz and her husband James F. Beatson of Quincy, and Christine M. Krantz of Somerville; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. He was also predeceased by his brother Mark P. Krantz. His family received relatives and friends on Sunday, January 29, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His celebration of life service held in the funeral home on Monday, January 30, at 1 p.m. A family committal of Johns ashes will be held at a later time.
