Mechelle Ann Doyle June 13, 1961- August 2, 2018. This is the story of Mechelle Ann Doyle. Growing up she loved being a big sister to her younger brothers, Richie and Robbie, and celebrated them at every chance. In her youth Shelleys adventures included trips with her family, mother, Katherine Cohen (Doyle), and dad, Morton (Marty) Cohen, to Alaska, California and Arizona. She even spent part of her adolescence on the west coast, thus transforming her four cousins into sisters. Upon returning to Essex, Shelley graduated from Gloucester High School in 1979. It was during this time that Mechelle met the man that she would love for the rest of her life, Mark Buttrick. Together they would share a home, life and daughter, Stephanie Nicole, in Ipswich for nearly 40 years. Nothing would ever give Mechelle more happiness, joy or love than being a mother. There never was and never will be a finer, more complete example of a mother or best friend. All of this held true until 2015 when Stephanie and her partner Michael gave Shelley a grandson, Baxter. Becoming a Nana was her greatest dream come true, he was the light of her life. Everyone and everything else happily took a backseat, even her cat Toby begrudgingly let Baxey take the top spot in Shelleys heart. Mechelle was the sunshine of our home and lives. She will be forever loved. In lieu of traditional services, Mechelle's family will hold a Celebration of Life and share information as it becomes available.

Shelley was my “Friday” at Hamilton Video for many years. She was selfless, hardworking, and supportive, and I’m very sad to learn that she has passed. She lives on in my heart, and in my new video store, patterned after the one that Shelley helped craft.
