Rita Marie (Shaw) Roach of Mansfield died Wednesday July 31 at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston. She was 85 years old and the beloved wife of James L. Roach for what would have been 60 years on August 23. Born in Boston on November 3, 1927, she was the loving daughter of the late Owen and Helena (Hanway) Shaw. Mrs. Roach was a graduate of the Teachers College of the City of Boston in 1949 and began her passion for teaching in the Boston Public Schools for 5 years and then for Foxboro Public Schools for 30 years. After her retirement in 1992, she continued working as a Substitute Teacher until turning 70. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Women's Club, Delta Kappa Gamma & the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Roach was the loving mother of James L. Roach Jr. of Plainville, Patricia Tinant and her husband Scot of Lakeview, SD, Jean Cyr and her husband Raymond of Cambridge, Nancy LeRoux and her husband Michael of Boston, Julie Finn and her husband James of Foxboro and Gail Douglas and her husband Mark of Stoughton. She was the cherished grandmother of Ellsworth, Lucas, Marshal & Alex Tinant, Michael and Christine Roach, Emily Cyr, Maura & Jill Finn, and great-grandmother of Raken and Takorah Tinant. She was the dear sister of Donald Shaw of OH, and the late Helena Ledwak, Dorothea Gauthier, David Shaw and her twin sister Ruth Goldwait and sister in law of George Goldwait of Hyde Park and Corinne MacIntire of Raynham. Funeral from the Bolea-Amici Funeral Home, 115 N. Main Street in Mansfield was Monday August 5 at 8am. Followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, 330 Pratt Street, Mansfield at 9am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours were held on Sunday from 4-8pm. Interment in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
