Mrs. Hazel (Blocksidge) Oliver passed away peacefully on July 15. She was 95 years old. She was the daughter of the late Charles L. and Florence Blocksidge of Lynn. She was devoted to her family; her late husband Emerson, and her three daughters, Susan Schneider of Marblehead, Sarah Oliver and Janet Oliver of Portland, Oregon. Hazel also adored her two grandsons, Franz and Andrew Schneider of Marblehead. She was a diligent volunteer and devoted her organizational talents to many different causes. She was instrumental in helping to raise the money needed to restore the wallpaper in Marblehead's Lee Mansion, and was involved in planning many projects for what became the Peabody Essex Museum. She was also a member of the Ladies' Committee at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. A passionate gardener, she was a member of both the Marblehead and Winter Garden Clubs. Hazel was the sister of the late Marjorie Blatchford and the late Muriel Justice. In addition to her daughters and grandsons she will also be remembered by her nieces and nephew. A private memorial service will be held later this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Marblehead Museum and Historical Society, 170 Washington Street, Marblehead 01945. Dear Susan, Sally, and Janet,
I have fond memories of visiting you, Aunt Hazel, and Uncle Emerson in Marblehead. I especially remember watching your mom "in action" and thinking there was something extraordinary and grand about her - a true lady! Emerson was my mom's cousin (her only cousin) but he was know to us as Uncle Emerson and your mom as Aunt Hazel so it was with sadness that my mom and I read of her passing. I can see from the comments here that she lead a wonderful life and touched many people. My mom sends her condolences and love as do I.

Dear,Susan, Sally, and Janet,
I'm so sorry to hear about Aunt Hazel..I have fond memories of visiting you all at your home in Marblehead when we were kids. I can picture Aunt Hazel in the kitchen directing traffic while carefully preparing a meal. I also remember Uncle Emerson taking us out on his beloved sailboat. I'm sure the three of you brought joy and interest to your mom's long and amazing life!

My sympathy on the loss of such a bright and energetic force in your lives. I know she was so in mine along with all the Monday sewing ladies. I have many fond memories from childhood on and wish you many opportunities to remember her fondly as well.
