Lawrence J. McGinn, Jr. of Swampscott, died at Boston Medical Center on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 84. Larry was well known throughout New England for maintaining thoroughness and diligence in every construction project he either designed, engineered or managed. Born in Gloucester, he was the son of the late Lawrence J., Sr. and Mildred Commerford McGinn. He graduated from Swampscott High School as Class President and Football Captain. After service in the U.S. Navy, he graduated from Northeastern U. with a degree in Civil Engineering. Larry and Mary Gorman McGinn have shared 60 years of marriage. They have been blessed with six children: two sons - Lawrence J., III and his wife Molly of Roselle, IL: and Michael P. and his wife Nicole of Silver Springs, MD; and four daughters - M. Gael Ouellette of Pelhan, NH, Erin E. McGinn of Swampscott and Katherine E. White and her husband Vincent of Merrimack, NH, and the late Noreen H. McGinn. Their beloved grandchildren are Lawrence J. McGinn, IV and his wife Jennifer, Patrick E. McGinn, Matthew R. and Daniel J. White, Chelsea N. Oulette, Lauren R. and Michael McGinn Jr. Larry is survived by his brother, William T. McGinn, and is predeceased by their sister, Constance McGinn Ryan. Larry was a man of great faith and charity. He was a parishioner of St. John's for over 70 years, served as an Extraordinary Minister and was a charter founder of Swampscott's Knights of Columbus, Council 3856. He had served on the Building Committee of the town's new school on Forest Avenue, on the Board of Trustees at Marian Court and was a member of the Senior Men's Club.
