William J. Hoey Jr.

William J. Hoey, Jr., 80, of Marshfield, formerly of Worcester, died Thursday, December 6th, 2012, in UMass-Memorial Hospital. His wife of 54 years, Mary P. (Needham) Hoey died in 2009. He leaves four sons, William J. Hoey, III of Worcester, James P. Hoey of Marshfield, Peter C. Hoey of Sutton and Paul A. Hoey of New Bedford; seven daughters, Mary C. with whom he lived, Patricia A. Lemerise of Worcester, Ann M. DeVito of North Grosvenordale, CT, Julia M. Pisegna of Oxford, Rose M. Willand of East Douglas, Eileen E. Hartman of Falmouth and Colleen T. Berlo of Plymouth; 23 grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a son, Thomas M. Hoey, his brother Paul F. Hoey and his sister Joanne Largesse. He was born in Worcester. The son of William J. Hoey, Sr. and Mary E. (Deloria) Hoey. Mr. Hoey was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School and served in the Army during the Korean War. He had been a technician for New England Telephone Company for 30 years, retiring in 1985. Mr. Hoey had been a member of Our Lady of Assumption Church in Green Harbor, a former member of Our Lady of Angels Parish, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the Telephone Pioneers of America. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend whose ever present smile and quick wit endeared him to all that met him. His funeral was held Wednesday, December 12th from OCONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial followed in St. Johns Cemetery.
