Gregory J. Hollohan

Gregory Joseph Hollohan, 87, of Maynard, died Sat. Feb. 9, 2013 at the Concord Health Care Center. Affectionately known as "Joe," he was the beloved husband of 64 years of Marie Therese (MacDonald) Hollohan, a Waltham native. Born in East Boston, he was the son of the late Michael and Monica (McQuarry) Hollohan. Mr. Hollohan served honorably in the US Navy during WW II primarily with "The Frogmen" Underwater Demolition Team, and also for a time aboard the USS Melville. After his war service, the Hollohans married and settled in Watertown, later moving to Maynard in 1956. For many years Mr. Hollohan was a foreman for New England Motor Service Co., and was retired from the Concord school department. In the early years the couple enjoyed activities with their three sons, and in later years especially loved to travel together. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hollohan is survived by their sons, Hugh and wife Karin of CO, Gregory J. II and wife Cindy of Lunenburg, MA, and Mark of Clinton, MA; grandchildren, Gregory Joseph III and Eric Hollohan, and Jennifer Bravo and Sean Hollohan; great-grandchildren, Lily Shae Hollohan, Kylee Hollohan and Kaleb and Adaya Bravo; a sister Mary Garcia of Tewksbury; and extended family. He was the brother of the late Augustine, Richard, Michael and Theresa. Visiting hours are Tues. Feb. 12th from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton. The funeral service will be Wed. Feb. 13th at 10:00am at the funeral home, with burial following (details to be announced.)
