John Barilone Obituary

John J. Barilone Sr., a lifelong resident of Maynard, died Sunday April 29, 2012, he was 82 years old. He was the husband of the late Helen M. (Kasziewicz) Barilone, who died in 1998. Born in Maynard, Mr. Barilone was one of four children born to Michael Barilone and Antonette (Soave) Barilone. Mr. Barilone was raised in Maynard and was a graduate of Maynard High School. He proudly served his country in the Korean War, as a member of the U. S. Army. Mr. Barilone was a sergeant in the engineer and construction battalion. He would go on to become a civil engineer, constructing a number of buildings throughout the Maynard and Acton area. Mr. Barilone served the town of Maynard for many years in various elected positions and on several committees. Mr. Barilone was a member of the Maynard Board of Selectmen for six years. He served on the Board of Public Works in Maynard for 20 years, as well as the finance committee and other various committees in Maynard. He truly enjoyed the time spent with his family, and cooking for them as well. Mr. Barilone also enjoyed taking trips to Foxwoods and traveling. Mr. Barilone is Survived by his son John Barilone Jr. of Maynard, and his four daughters, Deborah Barilone of Philadelphia, Cheryl Sandner of Worcester, Linda Punch of Maynard, and Jo-Ann Barilone of Maynard. He is also survived by seven loving grandchildren. Mr. Barilone was predeceased by his wife Helen M. (Kasziewicz) Barilone. As well as his brothers, Frank, Michael and Daniel Barilone. Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 10:00am at St. Bridget's Church, 1 Percival Street, Maynard. Interment will be private.
